General
With the introduction of the Qi10 series of fairway woods 2024, TylorMade has made another clear update in technology. Not only do they have a more modern, more high-tech design and a redesigned carbon crown (top). As a golfer, with these fairway woods you benefit from driver developments in boosting the MOI (Moment Of Inertia). This clearly ensures straighter strokes and much less deviation the moment you hit the ball on the outside of your clubface (toe). The extra forgiveness this creates, together with the existing innovations from the previous Stealth series, makes the feel better and more controlled. Thereby, this Qi10 Tour version is very powerful and widely adjustable, not only in loft but also in balance/weight.
Different versions
TaylorMade has developed three different Qi10 fairway woods versions again this season. Much technology in the three versions is similar but specific details differ to perfectly suit golfers of different levels with different requirements.
For example, this Qi10 Tour fairway wood with the more powerful Titanium sole instead of V-Steel is the widest adjustable wood, intended for (somewhat) better golfers who want to be able to adjust the characteristics of their ball flight exactly to their wishes and skills. Power, feel and playability take priority here over maximum forgiving characteristics. Then there is the TaylorMade Qi10 as the most neutral version, intended for a large target group of golfers looking for high-level 'all-round performance' with a higher ball flight and low spin rate (i.e. more control). Finally, there is the most forgiving version, the Qi10 Max. Characteristic of the Max version, this is the fairway wood with the highest, most predictable ball flight with a lot of weight placed at the back of the clubhead to show as little deviation as possible on mishits. A very playable version for golfers with somewhat higher handicaps.
The technique
The TaylorMade Qi10 fairway woods show that premium manufacturer TaylorMade continues to improve its products with pioneering innovations. With these fairway woods, just like the Qi10 drivers, it has been very successful in ensuring that when you hit the ball on the toe, the club head does not spin away causing your ball to depart to the right. This has been achieved by significantly increasing the MOI, truly a breakthrough in forgiving. The TaylorMade Qi10 Tour fairway woods not only use the higher-quality Tensei AV Blue Limited shaft. This type of club also features a recognisable sliding weight incorporated into the crown that allows the balance in the clubhead to be fine-tuned. Also, in this version, a titanium bottom weight provides more launch power.... Apart from these extras, there are several advanced techniques from previous models such as Twist Face and the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket that give especially low-hit balls more speed and less deviation. The Infinity Carbon Crown (top) of the Qi10 clubhead has also been redesigned for better weight distribution, creating more power and control. All in all, it feels nice and solid, powerful and very playable.
